Beneath what we feel, say, and do, there’s usually a question we’ve been trying to answer for most of our lives. Once you find yours, a lot of your patterns suddenly make sense.
Most of what we call “patterns” have a question underneath them. Not something we’re consciously asking, but one that quietly shapes how we interpret situations and what we do in response. Author and coach Mike Foster identified seven of these core questions, each tied to a deep emotional need. Knowing which one drives you most is some of the most clarifying self-knowledge you can have.

Once you have your result, find it below. Each description explains the pattern, and what it looks like when that question starts to get answered.
Knowing your core question is the beginning. The real work is tracing it through your actual life: where it shows up, what it’s been costing you, and what becomes possible when it stops running the show. That’s exactly what coaching is for. Start with a free 15-minute conversation.
